With all the issues that some are having with the new Zune Software, I thought It would be good to poll our readers.
On the Scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate "your experience" with the new Software.

Hey, will this poll be open for a couple weeks? I can’t wait to be able to share my thoughts about this idea. I really hope that this year will end so much better then it started I cant wait to get myself the Zune 80 Original I am going to be the collest kid on the block.

Are we talking the PC software, the firmware or a combination?
The firmware upgrade was great, no issues, love the wireless sync.
PC software… ehh. It is still slow as hell and just navigating from screen to screen sometimes takes as long as a minute.
I realize that part of that slowness is due to the size of my collection, but other media players do not have the problem near as bad.
The marketplace part of the software is well designed and laid out (IMHO) and the navigation on the device itself(through the PC side)is pretty decent.
I would like the ability to delete items on the device without syncing it with the PC though.
love this polls you keep posting. O there is an add thing for zune on the comcast.net home page, yes they are getting around.
The polls are a neat touch and you should do a poll near the end of the year, and compar it to this one to see to see if peoplelike it because its just is a change that people are happy or mad about.
Other than the first Zune 80 I got having to be returned….my Zune experience has been flawless…. all the way around!! I am zune-eriffic!
I love the look of the new Software, but I hate that they dumbed it down. There needs to an advanced view.
I went with “It’s pretty good, but has some issues.” because of the problems I had with a few songs. Some artists are still showing up under the wrong albums no matter what I do.
I like the look of the new software, but I feel they took out too many features. The ability to edit track information is sorely missed. I also miss the ability go straight to the location of the song on your hard drive.
Another feature I miss is the ability to flag songs. That feature was great for helping manage my collection. If while using the Zune I noticed a song with wrong meta data I would flag it for fixing later. Now I just try to remember it. I would for them to add an advanced view to the software.
besides the first initial install where I had to get all the latest windows updates, it’s been flawless, although some art are missing, and why can’t you drag and drop artwork like the last marketplace, and when you do want to update artwork it jumps to my picture folder, it should jump directly to that albums dir
I haven’t played with iTunes that much to make a comparision but my first impressions are very very positive. The Zune Pass is the best thing to happen to music although I think if it were $10 it would have been much more popular.
Riko I have a 5 year old PC (I know it’s time to upgrade) and the Zune software runs fine on it. No problems at all. I have a fairly decent collection and it works without a hiccup.
Riko if you don’t mind me asking how much music do you have? Cause I know people have have a pretty big collection of music and they have no problem at all and they are only running machines that have a little over a gig of RAM. Some even have over ten thousand songs yet he still gets little to no lag on his machine. Maybe its your machine and not the software? I am not saying anything just taking a guess.

I agree with some of Donald Bell’s comments on

“When I first held the latest designs of the Flash and hard drive Zunes, it was like seeing an ex-girlfriend who had undergone plastic surgery. Is it really you, Zune? Damn! You’re looking good. I hope you’re not still angry that I called you fat. Can I get your number? All joking aside, the first-gen Zune’s biggest sin wasn’t that it was made by Microsoft, it was that it looked like a military-grade battery pack.” Donald Bell.
I really would put that on the back of a 4gb Original if it could fit. Thats so true and funny at the same time. I love that quote.
Trevor
Ha, ha. It is a good quote. I had a similar feeling the first time I saw the flash Zunes.
It is fast on my 60GB collection - much better than what I’ve seen in the past. The responsiveness makes up for the issues regarding the album art.
@Noble
“I also miss the ability go straight to the location of the song on your hard drive.”
You can still go straight to the location. Right Click on the song name and select “Properties” from the context menu. Click on the location, it will open windows explorer and your song will be selected.
I really wish there was at least a “list” view for the video section. Now it’s hard to find recorded TV, music videos, home videos. Plus, any TV show is displayed by the episode’s name and not the show’s name which may make it hard to find some shows.
The old software allowed you to view video by genre, actor, etc.
Haven’t bought one yet, but the info and feed back you guys have provided has me moving in the direction to pick me up on. Thanks everyone.
Jim If I was you I would wait until the Zune 80 Originals or available for sale in early December. Its such a great idea to customize your Zune for no extra cost. I don’t understand why people don’t do it more often.
Trevor
The only problem I have with the Original is that they will be covered up in a case.
Havent gotten to try it out yet…But Im glad to see that most gave it a 9.
Jim also the second thing to consider is the rumor that it may come in multiple colors. Now I don’t know how much weight there is to that rumor, but if you can wait for another 20 days you will find out. Plus the 80s aren’t available anyways.
Price used to be one of my biggest considerations when I first bought my RCA Lyra. HOwever I realized you get what you pay for.
When I bought my sansa mp3 price was a consideration but so was size and quality.
i very much like the interface although it is a little lagy. i have no excessive (read, more than with other programs) problems with my album art.
WOw i been sing the software a little more latley kind of mad that the old multi-extenstion hack does not work with the new software.
Chris this whole free zune really bringing in the crowns
I think Microsoft has done a great job with the Zune 4./8/80. They are major improvements on the original Zune. But I think the software is still lacking in a lot of areas.
I see two people voted the Zune as awful. It has a few flaws but I dont see it as awful. I wonder what they disliked so much.
