With the way they’re going, I’m expecting all those bad things to change come along next firmware, It is only they’re second generation product. Apple’s on their sixth, So yeah, I’m expecting to download wirelessly sometime soon.
The will add that for sure, they have to. The only reason I can think of for not adding those were time. The rewrote everything from scratch and obviously had to set their priorities straight.
If you think about it they removed smart playlists / rating system also that so many people have been complaining about. I think they may be having a better idea for the playlists and didn’t have the time for it. We may see some of these features by March of next year, provided they keep enhancing the product. I love the quote above “Congratulations, Microsoft. Now keep working.”
well i do not care if the zune is not supported by mac. And wireless syncm, wow it looks so sick. and the screen ooooo. Best mp3 player ever created in my opinio
I dont really miss having a Music STore or video store. I dont really watch that many videos on the Zune. The new software might be missing some features but it is really nice.
I’ll never get videos from the marketplace. Unlike Apple, Microsoft allows their user to get their video content for free by recording TV. Media Center rules over Frontrow.
My biggest complaint is now I have to edit my meta tags in Windows Media Player or another tag editor. I’d rather use one software to manage my content. And you still can’t modify the meta data for videos.
Also, viewing photos on the Zune has gotten worse. Now I have to traverse more subfolders in order to get to my photos. I really wished they went with using tags. They could have made it so when a user wanted to modify tags of a photo it would open Photo Gallery.
But I do like the little things they improved on: i.e. I can now view photos and the radio at the same time, the Zune now supports DVR-MS files - it takes forver to transcode a recorded TV program, but maybe it’s because I’m using a Zune30. Maybe the new Zunes have native support for the DVR-MS and the conversion process is faster. Still it’s nice to have that. Plus, I didn’t think I’d have a use for the podcast feature, but I found a few video podcasts which were pretty cool.
lol chris, that i sweat line up, i like the You dirty pirate, gave me a good chuckle
I hate having to use a third party to edit my metatag data. The Zune software should be able to do it. Even Itunes allows editing tag data.
Programs I have used to edit tag data are:
Mp3tag
MediaMonkey
Tagscanner
Im not really careing about the no Mac support….Macs should be in their Ipod world. Im not sure about the FM radio since I live out in the country, but.
And then I never download from the music stores most of the time they are way overpriced.
Thanks for the post!
