There is no one feature that is more important than the others, for me. There are a number that are important. I want a device that I can count on, from a vendor I can rely on, with a productive UI and interface to my music collection, with a powerful yet easy to use media library app. I really want all that. If something comes by with a better UI, it needs to have all of those other things.
I voted for feature set, because that is what defines how helpful the device is in my day to day life. all music players are here to help you listen to music on the go, but all suffer from a seamless experience. If I am at home I want to listen to the music on my music system. If I am sitting in front of the computer I want to listen to it using it’s speaker system. If I am in a car I want to listen to music using the car speaker system. If I am in a train I want to use headphones and so on. The key is music everywhere without having to deal with all those wires and I don’t want to move music from one place to another based on where I am. I want a device like Zune that stores all my music, but is smart enough to detect surrounding devices just like it detects other Zunes and then talk to them, do all the work for me and let me sit back, relax and enjoy quality music.
coolness and interface/nafigation system is what i look for. Zune wins over the ipod video, but you can not really compare it to the touch. BUt yes zune is sexy ans fun to use
I went to my local Best Buy today and checked out the new Zunes. My God they are so small and nice. The store had Red and Black Zune on display. You do not get the feel of them by looking at the pictures/videos online, you must go out and check them. Unfortunately they did not have the 80GB on display or for sale. I really was hoping to see the 80GB model. The store had the 30GB model right next to the new models. What a difference it was between the old and new. I plan to go to another store in the next day or two just to see if they have a green zune.
I look for size and overall simplicty of software as my main things to llom at buoth the zune and ipod do a good job at this but the zune steps apart wit a large screen and wi fi. To neat features that sets it apart from the rest of the comp
I by the way I saw the first zune add on tbs today. Kind of cool but they should focus more on the features not all that wierd anamations
Ive gotta say screen size but cost is closely behind it. Cant afford to but a $300 ipod. I was thinking about buying a Zune1 30 gig just because it is cheap, instead of getting a Zune2 4 gig. But Im just mezmorised with the look of the new zune…

I guess the first thing I look at is storage size. I neve consider buying flash based players due to the low capacity.
For me its feature support and then possibly brand. I like the set of features the zune has. Some brands I stay away from.

OOPS! I started thinking about feature set and ended up with my rant on what a device needs to be. Sorry guys.

I didn’t explain earlier what features I like in MP3 players.
*podcast support
* fm turner
*video support
The one I disagree with most is the coolness factor. Thats one of the things I hate the most about the Ipod. You arent cool if you dont have one.
i go for all of the above besides name brand.
