Microsoft's numbers say up to 4 hours on each of the Zunes, we got real close to 4 on both as well.
I didn't change a thing on the two tests. I can only suspect that the disparity is due to the actual charge times.
I will charge them back up and run a couple more times before I move to the new MP3 full drain test again.
Both devices are fully charged and have been on their cradles for more than 5 hours. The only video on each of the Zunes is Linkin Park, Live in Texas. I ripped this video from my DVD at 25 fps @ 320×240 using SPB Mobile DVD. This is a program I have been using at this resolution on my Pocket PCs and Phones.
Both Zunes have headphones plugged in. The volume is at 10 out of 20 and the brightness is set to high. Since I have only this one video file on the Zunes ( 1:15 Minute Concert ), I will check them on the hour and restart the movie each time.

I’m sure all those battery length numbers were with no headphones and the brightness turned all the way down, they normally do that to make them seem longer. But that’s pretty good considering how big the Zune 80’s screen is, I would expect that thing to suck battery life.
I was impressed with the Zune 30 i honestly didnt think it would last more than 2 hours.
I think I would have liked to see something at about 4 hours, but around 3.5 hours isn’t bad. Just means that when you take flight, you’ll have to remember to charge your Zune while you’re waiting and watching any video in the airport.
that is some really good news. I can get up to 4 hrs of podcasts on one zune. If the flash players are comparable that is.
Im really surprised on the Zune 30, I didnt expect it would do this good.
Wow, i just saw the new edit option, thanks cause we really needed those.
Its nice to see the Zune 30 almost living up to the video life we should expect, compared to its dissapointing music life.
Great tests Chris. Its nice to see guys who do battery tests out of their own time.
Hey i was wondering if you had a clock that could dock an ipod would it be able to dock the zune so it can play it’s music. Please return this question soon becuase i can not choose between the zune 80 or the i pod touch.
