As you can read here and here, the Zune 80 is nowhere to be found. They are being sold for $300+ on eBay. Microsoft claims that "high demands" are to blame, but ZuneScene reports that they are in fact 6 weeks behind schedule. Write your opinions, is this good or bad? My opinion: both good and bad.
Good -Â Shows high demand and interest in the new players. It'll definitely bring attention to the Zune. It's said people want what they can't have.
Bad -Â Losing a lot of potential customers because of unavailability. In the age of instant gratification, people tend to get impatient if they can not have it at that very moment. Some may even look at alternatives, such as the iPod Classic.

I had a 80gb ordered from amazon in early Oct and now it tells me I won’t have it till the end of the month. I was told the day after release that my order was pushed. If I had know I would have looked around town on the release date… oh well.
As long as they have mine next month it’s all good.
I just hope they have brown or red on the zuneoriginls site as a colour choice , i’m thinking brown front with black back and black pad, with brown or gold etching, if that’s possible.
I’m not so sure Microsoft’s official response has been that the reason for the lack of Zune80s is due to high demand. I’ve only read that statement on other sites which seems more hearsay than fact. Maybe we’ll get more word from Caesar this week about the supply issues.
Well there is good on one side and bad on the other. Its good to see it selling so well. HOwever; people are missing out if they cant get the product. I hope when i try to get one that im able to.
I think that it’s more bad. I have a feeling it’s hard to find mainly due to the production problems. I’m sure there are people out there trying to find one, but not enough to make it sell out like this without some other reason.
I really doubt that it matters much. Among the general public there is very little brand awareness of the Zune at this point, and by the time it would have mattered the supply chain should be fine.
But Apple has announced iPods that people have anxiously waited weeks for. It really is neither good nor bad.
Good: People want it
Bad: Everyone is stuck waiting and may go elsewhere
BUt hopfully they are zuners, and will wait it out.
Has anyone met another zuner in the wild yet?
i deffinitly think this is bad, because i can’t have one now! because of the shortage in the usa they aren’t going to start selling zunes in europe
Well look at like this. The Zune is more popular than ever.
I think of it as good. I think people will want it more as time passes. I mean its frusterating to be ready to go out and buy it and surprise- out of stock. But in the long run I think shortage is better.
Hopefully the 80’s will be back in stock soon so more people can enjoy the Zune.
