Zune People Cheated, but so did iPod People…

I don't condone anyone ruining the results of a poll. I am ashamed that the Zune supporters did, but I don't want to hear a word from these iPod fanboys either.

It's no secret that someone created an autovote script to manipulate the WSJâ€™s â€œWhich of these electronics are you most likely to buy as a gift?â€ Poll.

When I left my house Thanksgiving morning, the Zune had 241 vote to iPhone/iPods 63,415 votes. Pretty lopsided I must say. Well, someone went and ruined any credibility this poll had by creating an auto voter for the Zune. I wonâ€™t share the link since I think itâ€™s embarrasing that someone has so little respect for this poll that they would ruin it by skewing the votes. Basicly this auto voter opens up in your browser and begins spamming votes for the Zune.
Now, 16 hours later, this poll has 169,554 votes. What is even worse is the fact that it would seem that someone also created something similar for the iPhone/iPod seeing that the numbers have jumped from 63,415 votes to 377,766 in the same time period.

The poll is now closed. iPhone or iPod 62% [ 456121 votes ] and Zune media player 28% [ 206204 votes ] . That is 206,000 votes for Zune and ~390,000 votes for iPhone/iPod in less than 20 hours. Tell me that iPod folks didn't cheat as well.

I am ashamed of the fans from both camps.

I didnt like how the ones that put the poll up said "an improbable raise on the zune with 28%" but didnt mention anything about the fact that Ipod got houndred of thousands of votes too..

I don’t condone this either, but I would think an organization like the Wall Street Journal could afford the resources to create a poll that would thwart this kind of action, or at the very least make it harder. At least it shows the WSJ’s Apple-fanboy "Uncle Mort" that the Zune has a big fanbase and not to take it lightly.

Exacly Jazim, I thing this could’ve been avoided easily but to get 28% the same way the Ipod got its 62% shows tu zune has many fallowers.

Well, I can say that I had seen the iPod fans cheated first. Really? 60,000 votes in the first 48 hours? There aren’t that many people who read the WSJ….

First off, Zune didn’t start this, Mac did, they had 650 votes after almost 24 hours, 48 hours in they were at 63k….then the members of the zune fanbase came back with a attack of there own on the polling. I do think it was stupid that any of this was done, but I don’t really care.

i don’t consider my self as a fanboy for either. I like different things about both, if they added those too players together i would have a true love, but that will never happen. I would of course not want that to happen because when the too are competeing it brings better deals to us. I don’t think it was right to cheat no matter if your side was losing. You will know that zune is better than ipod when the votes start to show it. Until then let all the apple fanboys think that ipod is better then zune. I think when microsoft releases the next generation of zune, alot of apple fanboys will switch sides. Then you can say you wre with zune threw the thick and thin.

I think that both iPod and Zune fanboys are stupid people with no self respect. Their interests move back and forth, if they have a Zune they support that ’till the death, and ditto for the iPod. I had a Zune, but I switched to iPod because the Zune doesn’t have 160gb out yet. And I have more than 80gb of music.
