Ok, so I shared a bit about the 3 play limit having a workaround this past weeked right? Sure I did. Well, the more and more I think about it, the more I wonder, "is it worth the damn effort?".
Let's think about this. Do I really care enough to share a song with a friend that I am going to take the time to place my Zune on a cradle, reclassify the track as podcast, find my friend and squirt it to him. So I wasted 15 minutes - 1 hour of my life to share a song with a friend. Whooopteeedooo... What do I get out of it? If I am going to go through all that effort, why not just rip the song to a CD for him.
Another thing about this that is silly is the fact that reclassifying my song/s as a podcast theoreticly moves the track/s to my podcast directory right? Well, I haven't tried this, so I don't really know, but it makes sense that it would go in with the podcasts after the change. If that is the case, now my song is now isolated from the rest of my collection.
Sure, it's cool to be "able" to do, but really... how freaking useful can this be?

I’ve been saying the same thing to all those that take issue with the 3-play restriction. If someone really wants the track then just have them download the Zune software and then copy the tracks directly off the Zune in guest mode. Tada, no DRM. Or drop the songs at a site like drop.io, or e-mail, or setup an FTP, or just burn them a CD, or… there are about a million ways to get around it if someone cares that much.
Personally, I find it’s easier just to drop a fourth of the price of a lattee and buy the damn track.
I totally agree Chris. I don’t find this work around helpful at all. But have you checked out my write up on how to work around the no autoplaylists? You can do it using WMP - check it out: http://www.zuneboards.com/content/view/241/1/
Lemme know what you think ; )
ACE I already posted that, but it is still useful. Also, it is useful when its your bands album. you can squirt the album to a friend and they have it now.
I guess it’s usefull to the people that might share quite a few of their songs with friends. I do see your point. Â If you want the song bad enough just download it yourself Â
I also agree that this seems to be an extraneous hack. If you’re friends are nagging you about only being able to play three time and you’re their main source for new music, hook their Zune up to your computer and toss the files on their player. If they’re not the type of friends that come over, they can get the song on their own. Anyone you don’t know that you’re just being social with can deal with only being able to play it three times.
The only way I see this being truly helpful is if you are too lazy to get the song from your friend or too cheap to by it online. Its pretty effortless to burn a CD.
HAHAHAHAÂ would have to agree with that Heatwavw316
Like I mentioned before, the workaround just isn’t too practical to me.
For now, the song sharing-ability of the Zune is kind of gimmicky. I hate to say it, but it’s true. Just like CoverFlow with the new Classic.
Well i like to do this because my friend really can’t use a computer but i taught him how to send songs hahaha
I’ve never planned to do this. To much work to give a couple of new songs to a friend.
Your right it’d be way quicker to burn them a CD or lone em an old thumb drive.
