Here is a quickie review from Philoking.com. He seems to like the Zune 8....
Final Thoughts
The bottom line is that it really is a great audio player. I have made it the player I use at work for the last week and have had no complaints with battery life, sound quality or usability. I really like the radio feature and at $149 for 4GB and $199 for 8GB it's a wash with the iPod as far as price goes. That leaves me to my final decision..If you are on a Mac, go iPod, using the Zune in Parallels is a pain in the butt. If you are on a Windows PC and do not already have a substantial investment in iTunes store music or a bias towards iTunes like I do, I think you will love the Zune. It's really a great player and the software isn't bad. I think when you throw in the FM radio and WiFi capabilities, this little device really does shine.

Short and sweet, I liked it! I work on a mac at work and have a pc at home. Would still rather have a Zune. Just feels better and makes me warm and fuzzy. For some reason never really liked the ipod (never owned one though) When I have messed with them there were issues and just didn’t see the big deal. The Zune when I have messed with them I like it. Played around with one my friend got. I had no issues and liked how it was easy to navigate. Man I just like the Zune. Sorry for the rambling.
man im getting addicted to these reviews now
I bought my daughter the Zune 30 when it first released, at the time it didn’t have enough to convince me to buy one. When I saw the Zune 80 with the touch pad and video out, I could not resist. It is a joy to be able to carry my whole music collection with me.
"I am sure if I wasn’t so used to iTunes I would find it much less inconvenient, but I am biased."
For someone who’s biased, he gave the Zune quite a bit of credit. Although I can understand that the Zune software and iTunes have considerable differences, so an owner of 3 previous iPods would naturally feel a bit lost.
Overall, it was a pretty good review. The final verdict at the end says it all.
I have to admit that I get extra joy when I see I positive review from an iPod lover. :D He said a lot of really nice things about the Zune. Plus, he was also upfront about his iPod bias, which is good that he admitted.
I can completely understand if you are use to something how hard it is to change.
Overall, great review!!!
Good review, short, sweet, and upfront.
I would like to note though, that Parallels really isn’t that great of a program to run Zune on. Generally, I’ve been getting better sentiments from Mac users who use VMware Fusion rather than Parallels. The reviewer should give out Fusion a shot.
I think I’ve sold the idea of a flash zune on my cousins. I let them play with mine and they went nuts. Neither use a mac and their iPods both broke on them.
I feel the same way as this guy. Zune 8 is my choice for work and school as well.
