I did my little video prize fight, now Cnet has their famous prize fight online. Who is the winner?
What an upset! We promise this fight was not rigged. We wanted a clear champion as much as you did. The Zune seemed to win most rounds by just a hair, but the compatibility round was the fatal blow to the Zune's ability to triumph over the incumbent iPod Classic. Microsoft really could have swept the floor with the iPod if it had just buried the hatchet and made the Zune both Mac- and PC-compatible. (Supporting its own DRM-WMA and DRM-WMV formats would have helped, too.)
The fact that the Zune even tied the mighty iPod Classic should be enough to send Apple's most devout fans into a reactionary hissy-fit. Surely you must have an opinion on which one should have won this fight.

for those of us without a mac this makes the zune a clear winner. (for me it’s the screen size too)
I think this is a really big break for the Zune! Obviously my time spent on this site would indicate my love for the Zune, it’s great to see other people are beginning to acknowledge the merits of it. I agree with their assessment though. There are some shortcomings with the Zune and hopefully MS will address them or come up with some other features that will help us look past the shortcomings
ahh man i was thinking the zune had that one for sure!
I think it should go to the zune ’cause this is only the second version of the zune and it already competes with the 8th version of the ipod
I think that the fact that the Zune won more rounds should have been the tie breaker. I’m just happy to see that the rest of the world is finally starting to appreciate how great the Zune is.
I have a MAC (work) and a PC (home), but still am interested in a Zune. Not working on the Mac isn’t that big of a deal with me. Plus some of this stuff can be addressed with updates.
*sigh*
I really hope that MS is working on a Mac client for this. It might not add much market share, but why would you not want to add all that market share that you can?
For me its not the device zune or ipod that helps make the final decision - its the software and Microsoft has a long way to go to catch up to iTunes.
I really do not like Media Player!
