When I say light, something fairly simple. Not as powerful as vBulletin that I use on all my other sites, but something free. I don't want to deter comments (since we love them so much), but forums might give us another place to share and let some folks ask questions too.
On the other hand, there are a multitude of great sites with forums that are already active, including the Zune.net forums. We have a sub forum on Mobilitysite for Zune, it that enough. That and the other sites... I know many of you visit several sites daily, so it might become redundant to have yet another place.

I’d definitely participate in GotZune forums, provided that I eventually get a Zune and can help address issues.
As of right now, I’m just learning as much as I can about the device, trying to steer my mindset away from the immediate iPod fad.
I would definitely participate in a GotZune forum.
I visit all kinds of sites, but I’d be happy to participate in a GotZune forum. There are times when I see news I’d like to share with everyone, and I don’t know where to post it. I also like posting comments on the blogs, so I would be cool with what works for the majority.
How about if we can do both?
Simple? Light? HAH! Chris…you do NOTHING simple!!
So…when are these forums going to magically appear?????
I think that a forum on the site would allow us to discuss things without them being tied to one of your posts, since the posts slide back with date. That way the things that are discussed most will be able to stay on the front page.
I kind of agree to Ray in the sense that we could continue discussions without having to navigate away from the main page to get to it.
Not only that, a light version with less-graphical content would be nice, as GotZune loads considerably slower than regular pages, due to the loads of content on it.
Heh, why not vBulletin? If it’s a price issue, I totally understand. Just IMO, vBulletin is the best forum software out. Best free alternatives would be MyBB and PHPBB… but PLEASE, stay away from SMF!
yes, I am VERY aware of the greatness that is vbulletin. I have 7-8 licenses. In fact I have 1-2 unused atm. The thing is, I don’t want to do anything fancy since I dont wanna center the focus of this site around forums like I do at my other sites.
ps. Vbulletin running 210,000 members and over 1.5 million posts at http://www.Mobilitysite.com/boards
as for the speed of the site, we have had some server issues lately.
I’d love a separate forum for the site.
A place for the gotzune fanboys to socialize about the zune. i hope it doesn’t take away from the comments here.
