Here's a take fromt he Baltimore Sun... I love this quote. Click on the link below and read this one, it's a good read for sure.
Despite my gripes, its form and function should make the second-generation Zune a strong contender in the portable media player market.

Very good read! I am so excited about the Zune!!!
when I read "Stronger" I thought more durable, and was like "Wow…. More durable then the 30? my friend dropkicked his and it wasn’t hurt." but they meant better competitor lol.
It was a good article, and an overall positive review.
I think the last statement kind of sums up the writers preferences as players go. Its like he has to admit that the Zune is better, even if it pains him to say it.
I think Apple fans are starting to get nervous.
@ heatwave: The last thing you said I think is right. I have 2 friends that are HUGE iPod people. One just got a new nano the other a touch. They laughed at the first Zune and said Microsoft will never get close. I talked to them last night while having a few pints and they both said that they liked what they saw and Apple better do something. The one that bought the Nano wishes he got a new Zune.
@kaseyart
Wow!!! That is very cool that real iPod people are actually considering switching over to the Zune. MS did make some great improvements with version 2, especially in the asthetics department. I think Apple has gotten lazy with their player designs. I bet by this time next year MS has a much bigger piece of the MP3/PVP market.
Yes, I think the same thing. This time next year more people will have heard about Zune. My buddy Chris who got the touch is still an Apple diehard, but said the new Zune was very nice. Donny (nano) wants a Zune. He had the 1st gen ipod he liked it, mini (broke) and the new nano and he says it’s nothing really different than what he had before. I think MS learned from the first Zune and with the ability to update will help make the Zune better.
Good article, but it’s funny to still hear people complain about the thickness of the Zune 80 - It’s half an inch thick! I know devices get thinner by the day, but just because it isn’t the thinnest doesn’t mean it’s too thick. If anything, devices are starting to become too thin, to where they aren’t even comfortable to hold.
I agree that small is nice, but there is a limit. I want a device to be easy enough to carry around, but rugged enough to take the beating I’m sure to impose on it. Some of these new devices are so small, they feel kind of fragile.
Plus, it makes them easier to lose…if you tend to be forgetful.
yeah. the 8mm thick touch is so thin i could snap it in half.
i agree with rock4christ i like my zune 80 i hope people will actually give the zune a chance and consider buying and trust me if you’re trying to decide between the zune and the classic take the zune!
I had two issues with the article (but just two, otherwise it was solid). My first problem is that they complain there’s no support for music purchased in iTunes. When will so called journalists and reviewers realize that no MP3 players can play iTunes purchases because Apple won’t let them! Secondly he said that he wants something smaller but doesn’t want to sacrifice screen size or capacity. I don’t think it’s any bigger than the iPod touch and the screen is way bigger than the iPod video while the same size. It sits in the middle and has great screen size and capacity? What does he want, a fold out screen? Other than that it’s good to see that people are starting to see the Zune as a contender.
The flash zunes do not feel fragile in the slightest. They feel really durable and light.
It reminds me of how durable the wii controllers feel.
i think the zune 4 and 8 is what really made people happy because some people just need that much and want it to use to jog or something and this is perfect. and i don’t think this one could snap in half like the ipod nano
I’m not too sure that the new nanos would "snap" in half all that easily, especially considering their new squarish shape. I could see it though with previous gen nanos.
Having said that, the flash Zunes look quite durable…the 80 even more so.
