I'm not too sure that the new nanos would "snap" in half all that easily, especially considering their new squarish shape. I could see it though with previous gen nanos.

Having said that, the flash Zunes look quite durable...the 80 even more so.

i think the zune 4 and 8 is what really made people happy because some people just need that much and want it to use to jog or something and this is perfect. and i don't think this one could snap in half like the ipod nano

The flash zunes do not feel fragile in the slightest. They feel really durable and light.

It reminds me of how durable the wii controllers feel.

I had two issues with the article (but just two, otherwise it was solid). My first problem is that they complain there's no support for music purchased in iTunes. When will so called journalists and reviewers realize that no MP3 players can play iTunes purchases because Apple won't let them! Secondly he said that he wants something smaller but doesn't want to sacrifice screen size or capacity. I don't think it's any bigger than the iPod touch and the screen is way bigger than the iPod video while the same size. It sits in the middle and has great screen size and capacity? What does he want, a fold out screen? Other than that it's good to see that people are starting to see the Zune as a contender.

I agree that small is nice, but there is a limit. I want a device to be easy enough to carry around, but rugged enough to take the beating I'm sure to impose on it. Some of these new devices are so small, they feel kind of fragile.

Plus, it makes them easier to lose...if you tend to be forgetful. :)

Good article, but it's funny to still hear people complain about the thickness of the Zune 80 - It's half an inch thick! I know devices get thinner by the day, but just because it isn't the thinnest doesn't mean it's too thick. If anything, devices are starting to become too thin, to where they aren't even comfortable to hold.

Yes, I think the same thing. This time next year more people will have heard about Zune. My buddy Chris who got the touch is still an Apple diehard, but said the new Zune was very nice. Donny (nano) wants a Zune. He had the 1st gen ipod he liked it, mini (broke) and the new nano and he says it's nothing really different than what he had before. I think MS learned from the first Zune and with the ability to update will help make the Zune better.

@kaseyart
Wow!!! That is very cool that real iPod people are actually considering switching over to the Zune. MS did make some great improvements with version 2, especially in the asthetics department. I think Apple has gotten lazy with their player designs. I bet by this time next year MS has a much bigger piece of the MP3/PVP market.
