As some of you that have been around a while know, I am using a local hosting company where I get special attention to detail. In addition, I can drive 10 minutes down the road and actually touch the servers. I pay a little more than a bargain host but for the strain that is taken off me with this arrangement, it's well worth it.
The problem is that lately we have had more issues than i'd like. We have had more downtime in the last month than the previous 4 years 11 months combined. I am frustrated, but not as much as the hosting company. They have to deal with my bitching and many others too. hehe...
So, what is the problem? The issue that took us down most of a day a couple weeks ago was cut fibers. The few instances recently are because of power failures. There is a ton of construction going on in Downtown Tuscaloosa Alabama right now. They knocked down several city blocks and rebuilding new stuff. Read about that here. Anyhow, dozens of backhoes, a bunch of dumptrucks, etc running up and down the streets of our downtown make it look like a war zone. The point is, this construction is causing cut overs of power poles and such causing power loss to the hosting company.
Ok, so that's the problem. On top of that, the bios on our main server is not equipped with the ability to restart after a power failure. With that problem in mind, the main tech there is going to put a UPS on my servers to give us an hour before this happens. Their old center had generator backup, Maybe they can go that route in their new building. BTW, they had to move because of this downtown project.
Thanks for the patience. I am as frustrated as you guys are.

I feel much better knowing why, and that is perfectly understandable.
I’ve had a hard luck with my previous hosting provider as well. Then I was introduced to a one man company at http://www.mjzhosting.net . Matt (the owner) is really good at troubleshooting your problems (if any) within 2 hrs…. The best customer service ever at the cheapest prices…
Currently sign-ups are closed because he wants to optimize servers and improve hardware.. but if you are interested then I can send you an invitation and you can join in.
Patience? Hah! I know he wasn’t referring to me
(rarely am I EVER patient!!)
Totally understandable, Chris. Don’t stress yourself too much over it. You should be breakin right now.
oh good i thought it was my computer. it says the page couldn’t be found but it came up the next day
Zune Insider lists holiday deals. link
Direct Link To Deals
No worries. Everyone runs into these problems.
Hey. I just posted a link about Zune Insider listing holiday deals, and it is "awaiting moderation" presumably for being off topic, and I
wanted to say that if it is for being off topic, then that wouldn’t really apply as it is all done through comments and there is no forum style organization.
oh, and Chris, you said you pay "a little more than a bargain host" how much is that?
somewhere around 6 bills right now, was 10 bills, but I dropped one of the boxes.
ok. not bad. I have definitely seen worse deals.
Hey Chris, thanks for the heads up. I thought my comp was messing up the other day. Don’t stress too much about it all, it happens.
I do have one question though. I registered to upload backgrounds and haven’t gotten a confirm. email yet. Any info on how I can get to being able to upload? Thanks
Kaseyart, did you fill out the form in the "Contact GotZune" section? There’s a chance Chris might not have read your comment.

Thanks sinizter.  I’ll do that.
before i reached the end of the article i was like "Wow how can they not have backup power for their servers".
It’s a must. here’s hoping for the best.
