Still having issues with your tagging?
This is a bug which affected many Zune users who updated their Zune Software from v1 to v2 back in the early days. Albums appear incorrectly in the PC library. To fix this, Microsoft released very fast a manual way to do it. But now comes back with a tool to fix it for you automatically...
Instead of messing with your registry with a great chance of causing problems to your Windows of Zune Software you can this Microsoft tool to do the job for you: Zune Media Collection Reset Tool .

so does this just delete the ZuneStore.sdf and CurrentDatabase_365.wmdb like the manual one?
Great! seems to be working, although i wish they would bring back drag and droping of album are.
Thanks MS.
I’m glad to see MS jumped on this problem right away. It shows Zune owners that they are paying attention.
so you actually had a problem with your files MyAvatar?
See this is what sets the Zune apart from the ipod. MS listened to what was happening and did something about it quick.
This tool screwed up my system real bad. I synced my podcasts yest on my new zune 80 and applied this patch today morning. Since then, the zune software does not detect my Zune. I tried reinstalling, restarting… nothing works.. now my zune is nothing more than an expensive radio player. Can someone help?
I’ll look through some forums and see if I find anything. Maybe more people are having this issue.
I figured out the issue.. Apparently if you have zune 80 and the latest version of ZMP, you do no need to install this patch. I did that mistake and screwed up the registry.
I had to uninstall ZMP, reset my Zune 80 (sot reset), remove all references to Zune from the registry (almost 150 in number), Reboot PC, Install System Mechanic and remove all relevant services and their dependencies, reboot, install ZMP again and wola!!! Finally it works
Took almost 2 hrs of my time though
WOW! It’s always something isn’t it? Sad that it happened, but good you figured out what the deal was.
luckily i have never had this problem but i feel bad for all of you who have had it
