I am no Nostradamus, but I didn't expect to see a "Zune Phone" in 2008...
"No, we won't do that. In the so-called smart phone business we will concentrate solely on software with our Windows Mobile program," Gates was quoted as saying in the interview published on Wednesday.
We have partnerships with a lot of device manufacturers from Samsung to Motorola and this variety brings us significantly more than if we would make our own mobile phone," he added.
I think I have to believe, but didn't Bill Clinton tell us that he did not have relations with that woman?

Good point Chris. I always believe in the saying, ‘Never say never’. I would not be shocked to see Microsoft change their minds somewhere down the road.
I found this today..
http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/154140/logitech-target-of-microsoft-takeover-talk.html
Speculation is circulating that Microsoft is planning a takeover bid for peripheral maker Logitech. The software giant is reportedly considering a bid worth just over $9 billion for Logitech, which is currently valued at around $6.3 billion. Buying Logitech would make Microsoft the world’s largest maker of computer mice and give it a significant presence in the speaker and gaming hardware markets, potentially tying in with its Zune music players and Xbox games console. The Microsoft tentacles might expand a little bit more…good news for Zune and Xbox owners…
Yep, I had a feeling MS wouldn’t go the phone route. Why fallow Apple when they can do something that sets them apart. Who knows what they might have planned. I did do some of my own Zune phone designs just because I was bored and once I get an idea in my head I have to get it out.
I see them helping to make a phone unique with a new software or what not. Just not their own phone.
Sorry but this is just talk.Won’t be long before Microsoft comes up with a phone/player [not sure it it’s gonna be called zune phone though lol] because the nature of portable devices has changed since the iphone hit the market.People will simply not carry around 2 devices when they can combine 2 in 1.I think that already MS has realized that but their denial in making such thing shows me that they don’t wanna give Apple’s device more hype than the one it’s already got.MS’s CEO laughing at iphone, people in MS acting as if nothing happened and on and on and on…If they came up immidiatelly with a device similar to the iphone then the benefits would be far less than the negatives for the company. In my opinion MS is simply just trying to get the right idea and surprise everyone with an amazing product
one hopes you are right azaas…if i were microsoft…i’d be thinking long and hard, about a new twist to the existing products that are out there…if they come out with just the regular old thing, with the only difference being their name on the box…people will tend to go with an already established product (as we have seen with the zune, although i believe the zune is slowly growing in the market…it seemed a little rushed and now were forced to practically start with scratch..hence the ‘foot in the door’ comment i made in another post)….they need to do something that will get people talking and have them feeling like theirs is the product they need….
why does microsoft want to do EVERYTHING apple does? that just bugs me. but i understand competition but come on. Sure they can make a phone but like azaas said it better not be even close to the iphone cause people might not buy it. They should think of something totally new completely their own and make it.
