Poll: Zune Social : Nearby… Huh? How many have you…

So, I have been using a Zune (1 and 2) from the start and I can say with all certainty that I have only seen neighboring Zunes on my Social Tab Nearby Screen only once. I check in the airports, I check in the mall, or any other venue that I have a Zune with me and lots of people. That's not to say that others around me don't have Zunes, but hey... if you have them, you are in public... turn the damn thing on. I wanna see ya!

Anyhow, the only place I have seen others is at an Mobius Meetup at CES in 2007. I think it was 4 or 5. Judie Lipsett from Gear Diary, Matt Miller from Zdnet, myself, and a couple others whipped out our Zunes and squirted and such... Jason Dunn from Zune Thoughts was there as well, but I can't recall him whipping it out. That was the only time I saw other Zunes. Sadly.

I see atleast 10 zunes on my ride to college everyday but none of them turn up in the social tab. I think this has something to do with an absence of an audio & Video notification system in the social feature which could notify the owner if any zunes are nearby in the vicinity.

If such a feature existed, then more people would be motivated to turn on their wireless while in public.

I still say there needs to be an optional audible sound that alerts you when someone tries to squirt you something.

Wow. That is a great idea. Some sort of indication… I’m adding that to the list of suggestions and questions I shall make at the MVP Summit.

just the Zune 30 that I sold to one of my friends. There are more zuners on my country..but ppl are antisocial here for fear of someone robbing it.

well, I’m a Panamanian. and many of my friends are asking me about buying their Zunes. not much to add beside this anecdotal evidence.

When using my friends zune 4 gig, I saw my other friends 80 gig… But that was planned out, so I guess it doesn’t really count.

my design class has about 9 zunes, and my Calc II class has over 14 Zunes, the cafeteria/game room, has about 3 on at any given time. I haven’t checked my other classes since we’re way to busy in them.
