One of the issues I've had with Zune so far is marketing. I am not keen on the "off the wall" advertisements and I feel that there is a serious lack of marketing dollar out there. Maybe since I am older and not the target Zune Audience, I am missing the ads? I saw my 1st serious online ad today....

You’re not alone, Chris. I live near Times Square where tons of tourists go and where you see a lot of TV news shows broadcasting, and I don’t see one Zune advertizement, but I see tons of iPod ads here.
I’ve seen those ads on boing boing. and lifehacker. and cnet. plus they’re sponsoring diggnation.Â
Yeah, it may just be the sites you go to, because I see them all over the place. boingboing, the onion av club, uncrate, tons on myspace, lifehacker and several others in the gawker media group.Â
i went to futureshop in canada today, and saw some posters in the store, and a HUGE plastic zune in the store asile, as well as some posters outside……as far as online, nothing.
Microsoft DOES NOT know how to market any of it’s products. They think that word of mouth will be good enough. The in-store displays don’t help either it seems. Sadly, most people still don’t know that the zune exists even though it is approaching 2 years on the market.
I haven’t seen 1 zune ad anywhere on TV / radio / news. Message to MSFT…1) fire ALL of your marketing guys (internal and 3rd party) and hire new people that actually want to work for their money. 2) Get your new marketing guys to produce quality ads on tv / print / internet.
I’m not sure what you guys are watching but I can’t turn on tv lately without seeing an add for the Zune Pass. Especially on MTV. I’ve literally seen the same commercial played 3 times within the same commercial break. I will say though that it only seems to have started lately. Nice to see them finally putting some money into marketing this stuff.
