This review covers Incipio's first zune 4/8 silicone case, the dermaSHOT. Incipio currently has a much more vast selection of leather based cases, but i'm glad to see they've branched to silicone as well. The review for this case will be fairly simple, being it's a silicone case, but i'll try to cover just about everything you could need to know.
Tight fitting anti-slip case for your Zune. The Incipio dermaSHOT silicone case is curved to the shape of the Zune so that you can access all the device's features.
Features
- High density silicone.
- Play-through design for full function while in case.
- Anti-static coating grips the device, not your clothes.
- Shock absorbing silicone helps protect against damage.
- Cut-outs give easy access to controls and inputs.
- Backed by Incipio's Lifetime warrant
This is the black version, but to clarify this case is also available in Magenta, Olive Green, Clear, Burnt Orange, and Little Blue Box Blue.
The majority of this case is a solid black shade, with a contrasting white "Incipio" title near the bottom of the case on the back. Covering the touch pad/buttons is a gray layer, that is slightly transparent over the touch pad/buttons, revealing the zune's color. The thin silicone covering the buttons is slightly raised, which is fine for the touch pad, but it adds a bit of difficulty for pressing the small play/pause buttons. Although an annoyance at first, it is not too hard to get used to. I do believe lowering these buttons as apposed to raising them could have provided easier use.
Easy access is available for all the zune's functions. The sync cable jack is exposed, as is the earphone jack and hold switch. Therefore , you never really have to take this case off for any reasons.
Unfortunately, this case does not offer any sort of wrist band opening, or belt clip. The back is left alone , and either of these features could easily have been added. Being that this is a 4/8 case, which are commonly used for working out, I don't understand why this feature was overlooked.
This case also lacks screen protector, which may have been nice to see but is not too necessary due to the zune's glass screen. Many other cases do ship with some sort of protection for the screen, so yes, I would have liked at least something, but it's not completely necessary.
Conclusion
Overall, although lacking some features that would surely make this case even better, you must remember it is just $12.99. For that price, this case offers superb protection versus scratches and absorbs shock. Access to needed buttons/connections is also available, all in a thin, durable, and quality feeling silicone. Incipio left room for improvement, but this is a great case.

great review! it really looks like a wonderful case, I love the silicone ones, but i noticed you mentioned no screen protector which makes this an instant no for me. from other experiences i’ve had, without screen protector, crap gets under the case and grinds away at the finish. making the case worthless. thanks for making sure to point that out.
I have one of these,
Nice case for $12.99 but as you say it is missing some stuff
Looks pretty okay Man i wish the zune 80 had its earphone plug on the bottom as well
