I don't know, but I am going to find out. I have had my zune in the car continuously playing for 2 weeks now. I have taken it inside to sync once, but other than that, it's been sitting in my car attached to the Zune car kit playing continuously. It started off because I forgot to take it in, then I got busy, then I forgot, now it's a science project. How long before it dies?
It's taking some nice Alabama heat during the day, so this might play into it's life expectancy, but I am going to just let it keep going until it dies. Might be next week, might be next month, or even next year. We'll see.
Right now, it's sitting at 2 weeks 1 day. I'll update here and there on the status. My Black Zune 80, Bigdaddyzune, is protected well with an Incipio flip case and I keep it covered with papers when I am at work to keep those walking by from getting tempted.
Wish BigDaddyZune the best of Luck.

Nice way to boost your play counts.
I hope you don’t think that I am concerned about play count. I could care less about that
That being said, I will see what my play count is at right now and post it and I am sure I can talk Cesar into reseting it to that number when this test is complete.
reminds me of the times I keep my Zune 80 in my dock continuously playing music in my room for days, and I give it frequent breaks when I bring it with me, but don’t make the same mistake I did- I use my zune 80 all the time in the dock playing music, even while I sleep (IDK why but it helps me sleep to music). Anyways, yes the play count boosts up but here is the main problem- IT GETS SCREEN BURN-IN!!! AHH, my precious Zune 80! Anyways, yea a few weeks ago I noticed that it had gotten screen burn-in of the play/pause icon, battery and wifi icon, along with shuffle and repeat icons, and even the music playback bar shows. It even shows an artist name, song and album along with the time passed in the song and the time remaining!! It’s all burned into my screen! so I thought it was just a common issue and I called Zune support, but I suspected it to be screen burn-in. So I did a hard reset and some other stuff with it that the lady from Zune support said to do. Still, after 2 hard resets, it showed these things on every screen. only during gray/light colors in that area of the screen you would easily see them, sometimes even during videos. So I had to ship it into zune support and it has a 1 year warranty. I am using my zune 8gb for music right now, so glad I got a second zune this year. Anyways don’t make the same mistake I did and leave it running for continuous hours. I almost put this as a story on the blog I write for (cliczune) but it doesn’t seem like news or anything. Well, I guess I’m going to post it now anyways…
Umm I wouldnt do that
just cause
1. its gonna kill ur battery.
2. Car, its hot…
3. umm i dunno o.o
lol
but myself,
2 zunes in 6months my self, i am sitting on 17,300 plays myself.
(not leaving it on the car or nothing)
My money is on 3 months. Had it been a flash player I would have given it close to a year but I’ll bet the drive breaks down… especially in that heat.
Lol, yea Bet MS will give you a new brand one tho.
