From Zune.net:
Zune headed to Aspen for the Winter X Games to connect with consumers and athletes at one of action sports' largest competitions of the year. Zune took over a space in downtown Aspen for the week to create a pop-up shop that doubled as a temporary gallery and performance space, where custom Zune players designed via the Zune Originals Web site were showcased. In addition, ten customized Burton snowboards featuring Zune Originals artwork were created exclusively for Winter X. On Friday, Jan. 25, Zune hosted a private party for 550 people at the space which featured a live music performance by Trevor "Trouble" Andrew. The event reached capacity quickly and drew a crowd of pro athletes such as Shawn White, Gretchen Bleiler, Torah Bright, Jake Brown, and Piere Luc Gagnon, in addition to other notable attendees such as Lil' Jon. The previous night, Zune partnered with Roxy to offer an exclusive look at the film "Labor of Love," the first ever all women's ski and snowboard team film.

From Zune.net:
Zune recently sent a video crew out to shadow the guys in The Black Dahlia Murder on the New York City stop of their current US headlining tour. Zune's video crew was on a mission to capture a day in the life of one of metal's most entertaining bands, and that they did. Follow along as Trevor, Brian, and Shannon make stops at tour sponsors Metal Maniacs offices for a roof top interview, Fangoria Magazine's offices to sit down and talk horror movies, and run amuck in New York City. In the mix of it all is live footage from the show that night at BB King's, backstage interviews, and Trevor and Bart heading out to the streets to talk to their rabid fans. There will be a total of six 3 minute exclusive "behind the scenes" video podcasts, all filmed in New York City on Jan. 16th 2008, available only through Zune Marketplace and Zune.net.
The first of 6 video podcasts featuring The Black Dahlia Murder is available now. Each additional podcast will be released on a weekly basis so make sure to keep checking the Zune Marketplace and Zune.net for each installment.

Microsoft to connect with consumers/action sports fans through interactive Zune experience
From Zune.net:
Zune announced today that it will be the exclusive digital media sponsor of the 2008 Winter X Games, the world's premier action sports event taking place January 24-27 in Aspen/Snowmass, Colorado. The sponsorship will give Zune a significant and visible onsite presence at the event and will include TV, online, and print advertising. Attendees can visit the Zune interactive village booth, where they can try out the new Zune wireless media players and take part in special giveaways and promotions. On display will be 10 customized Burton snowboards featuring Zune Originals artwork that have been created exclusively for the Winter X Games. Zune Originals gives individuals the option to customize their own Zune player with laser-engraved designs and personal text via an online store, where they can choose from a collection of artwork designed exclusively for Zune by 18 internationally recognized artists.
Additionally, Zune will also create a "pop-up shop" in downtown Aspen designed to give consumers a complete Zune experience. The space will be designed around the Zune Originals concept, featuring an interactive lounge where people can try out the new Zune players and software or go online to order their own customized Zune device from ZuneOriginals.net. Attendees who order a Zune device at the interactive space will receive a free music download card that they can redeem at Zune Marketplace in addition to a limited edition set of all 27 Zune Originals posters. Guests will also be able to access the Zune Social, a new online music community where anyone can create a free, customizable Zune Card that automatically updates to reflect the music they are listening to on their Zune player or Zune software on their computer. Through Zune Social, people can view friends' Zune Cards or those of others in the community to see what they are listening to and discover new artists and bands. Since it was introduced in November, over 1.5 million people have signed up for the Social.
Zune's presence will be further extended by partnering with Roxy to offer an exclusive first look at the film "Labor of Love," the first ever all women's ski and snowboard team film which will be released and distributed by Video Action Sports (VAS) later this month. The premiere will take place at the Hotel Jerome in Aspen on Thursday, January 24. Roxy team athletes along with other X Games competitors will be hosting the event.

Zune announces the release of the next video in the Zune Arts series entitled "Laika," which brings together the New York based director Ro Rao and the sounds from the Scottish band The Aliens.
Set fifty years ago, Russia launches a rocket manned by a dog into space and soon loses contact with the vessel. The character dog named "Laika" soon discovers a dog utopia filled with many dog treasures, but quickly realizes that these treasures are worthless without her friends. An endearing, intergalactic tale at just how far one will go to share with friends, the film concludes with a grand gesture of friendship - sharing dog bones.
The film is set to the extravagant, acid-drenched pop of "I Am the Unknown," a track from the 2007 full-length Astronomy for Dogs by The Aliens, a band that evolved from the critically acclaimed Beta Band. The soundtrack completes the artistic vision of Ro Rao, whose previous work with Ugly Pictures has been honored at a dozen of film festivals including the Tribeca Film Festival, D&AD and Annecy, and has been written up in Creativity, Entertainment Weekly and Rolling Stone.
The new video follows in the footsteps of other creative artist collaborations which have included Cary Godbey and Maps, SSSR and M Ward, and againstallodds and The Deadly Syndrome.
