Back! Hope everybody had a happy holiday. Kicking off another year of blog posts: this cool story from Wired. The folks at Wired chose "Academy of Dreams," as one of  The 10 Best Gadget Ads of 2007. Zune actually took the number two spot, losing out to The Bourne Ultimatum, which Wired thought was the best gadget ad of 2007. On a related note, Zune also got a quick mention in the number 10 entry: Transformers, saying, "We've got our fingers crossed for a transformed Zune/iPod brawl in the sequel." Heh. Funny, that.

2007: Best. Year. Ever. I got married, we celebrated music and community by putting on a few BBQs, the Zune lineup got an update, we added the Zune Social, Zune Originals launched, and a bunch of other cool Zune stuff. And, of course, lots of music. Here are my favorite songs that came out in 2007:

The Zune Diagnostic Tool compiles data to help Product Support Services diagnose Zune USB and wireless sync connection problems.

System Requirements - Supported Operating Systems: Windows Vista; Windows XP Service Pack 2 (Windows XP users must have Service Pack 2 or higher.)

Instructions

Download this tool and run it on the PC.
1. Open the Zune software.
2. Run the ZuneDevices.exe tool.
3. Connect the device and wait for any errors to be displayed.
3a. For USB connections, look for the device to appear in device manager under portable devices. There may be a yellow exclamation mark next to the device.
3b. For wireless connections, use Settings->Wireless->Sync Now on the device and wait for the device to display an error, usually one to two minutes after displaying "Connecting to PC".
4. Disconnect the device. For wireless connections, click the Cancel or Ok button.
5. Click on the Report tab of the tool, then click "Save As" and save a copy of the report text for analysis.
6. Send the report text file to Product Support Services.

Grammy nominated artists the Chemical Brothers have released two videos for sale exclusively for the first time on Zune Marketplace. The videos for "Life is Sweet" (2003 Digital Remaster) and "Get Yourself High" (featuring K-OS) are available for download exclusively until Jan. 4, 2008.
