Jonistheman pointed out on "Zune 4/8 green missing in Canada?" yet another interesting point. He mentioned how it appears that the Zune 4/8 screen in the Canadian "meet Zune" is larger than the normal version.
Granted, this is most likely just a marketing edit to make the zune look more enticing, but it could also show what is to come with the flash models. See for yourself at http://www.zunejourney.net/ , and http://assets.xbox.com/en-ca/zune/comingzune/zune.html
(I realize this is not in fact new, sorry about the outdated post, but if your still interested, read on)
Microsoft has released it's own zune theme for your desktop, and it looks great! You can easily download it here, http://www.download.com/Microsoft-Zune-Theme/3000-2420_4-10818187.html It's a great color combo, and I highly advise it.
From Download.com's editor review:
Microsoft's takes a decidedly dark turn in this black-tinted theme for Windows XP. A bright orange Start box, sharp gradients, and effective gray-on-gray accents make the theme--based on the company's Zune media player--a welcome change from the default blues and greens. We're not especially enamored of the default desktop wallpaper, which lunges away from the cool factor generated by the rest of the theme in favor of cheesiness, but that's an easy enough user customization. The theme looks especially good when coupled with the Firefox Zune theme created by an independent developer.
Here's a preview of what it looks like on my desktop if your interested: http://i265.photobucket.com/albums/ii229/Soccerfreak1334/Zune-1.jpg
Hey everyone, Cesar Menendez, from zuneinsider.com has just pointed out an interesting opportunity. Jessica( A program manager with zune social) is asking us, the zune social users, to help out with the development of a new feature for the zune social itself. Head on over to http://forums.zune.net/157115/ShowPost.aspx and let your voice be heard!
Here's a brief outline of the project, quoted from Jessica's post.
"So how will this work? I’ll provide initial concepts and ideas in this forum dedicated to developing the feature, and we’ll go from there. Together, we’ll develop the concept, user scenarios, and then the feature functional design. We’ll still work with our internal product designer to come up with what it actually looks like, and our software developers and testers will write and test the code. But you’ll be seeing it at each step of the software development process.
What do you say? Are you in? Let’s do it!"
And by the way, as Chris stated, It's Matt(Soccerfreak24) and I am now going to be a writer for GotZune. A quick note about myself: I play Soccer, Ultimate Frisbee, and am a huge Miami Dolphins fan. And of course, I love the zune; which is what drew me to GotZune in the first place. I look forward to posting, and being part of this community.
I don't normally go out here with the personal, behind the scenes stuff, but I got an email in here over the weekend that disturbed me. Someone shot me a nasty little email about disclosure. They claim I should disclose that Microsoft is funding me with the Zunes I am giving away. Well, they are WAY OFF BASE with that assumption.
Every Zune I own, have given away, or given to my family has been paid for at full retail except one. The one I didn't pay cash for was the 4GB Green Zune that we are giving away right now. It was purchased in the Microsoft Company store with dollars given to me as part of the Microsoft MVP Award.
I have declined getting "Press Review" models on both the original launch and the Zune 2 launch. Not that I wasn't appreciative for the offer, I didn't want to wait until a week or two after launch to get it. Here and Mobilitysite are not really considered "main stream" media, so we're not real high on Microsoft's press list.
So, in closing. Microsoft has not funded this site with money or Zunes. All the Zunes are paid for by me. Ad revenues don't tip the iceberg on how much I have spent on my own Zunes or the ones I have given away here.
For more about my disclosure here, read my Fanboy Disclosure.
Just thought I would drop a line to all that are reading this to share some info about the site. The site has grown in popularity quite fast and I am really happy about this. I try hard to do the best I can in all that I do online, so this means a lot. We are averaging 1000 unique visitors and 5000 page views per day. All that for a blog about one device. Nice. It makes hobbies like this fun!
Anyhow, for webmasters... Something that I offer here that hasn't be utilized much is our topsite list. Unlike the others that have faltered, this one is run by me and isn't infested with ads. Consider checking into it. Thanks.
Also for the members, don't forget that we have forums now. They are from DAPsite.com originally, but we moved them here to focus on Zune and talk of other players.
I also want to welcome Soccerfreak to the editorial and moderation team. Thanks! Don't forget to thank all the others that help around here too!
Ok, I am off to work. Take care!
Ok, this post serves two purposes.

I hope this new box does us even better than the other new box!
I want to apologize for the slow posting lately. I do all this as a hobby and sometimes it gets to be too much when I have problems with the sites. I run this and several other sites, the largest being Aximsite and Mobilitysite. Our current dedicated servers were moved to another data center by our host recently. I thought this would fix some of the things that causing me headaches, but it didn't. Yesterday, I decided to move to another host.
I am getting 3x the hardware for 2/3rds the price and I will start migrating sites to this new hardware this weekend. My posting on this and my other sites will be minimal until this is all done. This will also include the newest contest, which will be better than what you are expecting already
In the meantime, we'll still be posting news, deals, etc... but not as often for a week or so.
The move to our new servers went great, but we ran into a small problem, or two. The 1st was that all the software we needed was not installed already and that broke a few things. Next, our main server was supposed to be a dual processor box with at least 4gb ram. Something went way wrong, we ended up with a single CPU with 1gb RAM... OUCH! That is remedied now and we should be screaming fast again.
One of the things we got out of this move was better support and another is 3-4 hops closer average to you guys!
If you see anything go wrong here, leave a comment here and I will address them asap. Thanks for your patience and I am truly sorry for all the troubles in the last couple months.
Sorry for all the hassles reaching the site lately. Sorry for the poor quality for the past few months. I am working to find a solution still.
It's possible that we might move again in the next couple days. I am going to give this new place a little time to improve today, but I am already ready to try something else. I have to get stability for the sites asap.
Thanks for you continued support. We will be back to the great site you once knew soon!
This affects all of my sites.
Today, the 2 servers that run all my sites will be moving to another data center. This will most likely cause severe slowness of the sites and possibly make them unresponsive at times.
I hope that this move will eliminate a lot of the issues that have happened over the last couple months.
We will not be posting any updates/news during the next couple days.
Please be patient and look for a new horizon on Monday!
