I want to apologize for the slow posting lately. I do all this as a hobby and sometimes it gets to be too much when I have problems with the sites. I run this and several other sites, the largest being Aximsite and Mobilitysite. Our current dedicated servers were moved to another data center by our host recently. I thought this would fix some of the things that causing me headaches, but it didn't. Yesterday, I decided to move to another host.
I am getting 3x the hardware for 2/3rds the price and I will start migrating sites to this new hardware this weekend. My posting on this and my other sites will be minimal until this is all done. This will also include the newest contest, which will be better than what you are expecting already
In the meantime, we'll still be posting news, deals, etc... but not as often for a week or so.
The move to our new servers went great, but we ran into a small problem, or two. The 1st was that all the software we needed was not installed already and that broke a few things. Next, our main server was supposed to be a dual processor box with at least 4gb ram. Something went way wrong, we ended up with a single CPU with 1gb RAM... OUCH! That is remedied now and we should be screaming fast again.
One of the things we got out of this move was better support and another is 3-4 hops closer average to you guys!
If you see anything go wrong here, leave a comment here and I will address them asap. Thanks for your patience and I am truly sorry for all the troubles in the last couple months.
Sorry for all the hassles reaching the site lately. Sorry for the poor quality for the past few months. I am working to find a solution still.
It's possible that we might move again in the next couple days. I am going to give this new place a little time to improve today, but I am already ready to try something else. I have to get stability for the sites asap.
Thanks for you continued support. We will be back to the great site you once knew soon!
This affects all of my sites.
Today, the 2 servers that run all my sites will be moving to another data center. This will most likely cause severe slowness of the sites and possibly make them unresponsive at times.
I hope that this move will eliminate a lot of the issues that have happened over the last couple months.
We will not be posting any updates/news during the next couple days.
Please be patient and look for a new horizon on Monday!
Several of you have contacted me via email and comments on posts that you are having troubles logging in or staying logged in. I guess what I should go over how the site logins work now.
When I added the forums, I merged the user table for the blog and the forums. What that means is whatever you use to log in to the forums is now what you need to use to log in to the blog. If you are logged into the forums, you should already be logged into the blog.
So make sure that you don't have separate accounts for each. They should have merged seamlessly if you registered in the forums with the same info you were using for the blog.
In addition, the photo gallery no longer has a separate log in. It uses the same log in that you have in the forums as well.
Those that have contacted me, if this helped, let me know. I am looking into the cause of a couple of your issues too.
Microsoft Zune: A fantastic podcast option, the Zune even ekes past the iPod for the top spot. The software is excellent for podcasts: You can manage how many episodes you want to sync to your device on a subscription-by-subscription level, meaning you can update three episodes of Buzz Out Loud, but only one of MP3 Insider and so on. You can also unsubscribe from podcasts directly from the player, and there’s an option to wirelessly sync new podcasts when you charge your player at night. The Zune also offers accelerated fast forwarding and passive bookmarking to automatically remember your spot in each podcast.

Ok, as many of you know, we have had some serious issues lately. We've experienced 10x the amount of reboots in the last 3 months than we did the 1st 5 years online. We have had two major(4+ hour) outages too. We only had one really bad one in the 1st 5 and it was my fault.
Things are changing though. The 1st step is that our servers are being moved out of my hometown to a collocated facility. This facility has a better infrastructure and that alone may help us a great deal.
Lately, I have appeared to be inactive, but that really has not been the case. I have just been ripping my hair out worrying about issues that I used to not have to worry about. I am not a server pro, so this is all new to me. I have gotten decent at trying to stamp out little fires set on the server by whatever it is out there doing stuff to us.
With this change, I think that some of the issues will clear on their own, but we'll see. If this move doesn't work, I will end up moving to a different hosting company altogether. I just can't sit back and do this. I need to be writing review, answering emails, etc...
Sorry for the slowness of the site, previous downtimes, etc... I hope to get this all resolved soon.
Ps. Do I have any Linux Pros out there that might be interested in doing some server work for me? If things don't work out with what I am working on now, I may need to move to an unmanaged host and have someone to help me with some things.
I am fixing a glitch here and a glitch there. What we have going on now with the addition of the forums is 3 databases. The Forums, the Blog, and the Photo Gallery.
Last night, I got the photo gallery, forums, and blog databases all sharing info. Now the forums are the basis for login. Being logged into the forums logs you on to the blog and gallery. You username/pass from the gallery is gone now if you ever set one up.
In addition, the gallery allows you to create your own personal galleries too.
I asked about the interest a while back and I was really surprised how many thought having yet another set of Zune forums was a good idea. The idea originated from more than one of you shooting me emails asking why we didn't have forums. Those of you that know my other sites already know that I have forums galore already too. Anyhow, I hesitated since I didn't want to a) create another set of forums with so many good forums for the Zune out there and b) I wasn't sure there was enough interest. Well, I was having some issues with spam and a dying community over at DAPsite.com and the idea popped in my head, "let's just move those forums over and save myself some money and hopefully save that community." Dapsite, which was once DellDJsite, has been getting hammered by spammers and the participation of it's members was a little slow too. This seemed like an "in the right place at the right time" thing, so here we are.
While the forums are now hosted on GotZune, they are still going to retain the categories for other music players (yes, including iPod), but we added new categories for Zune. There are going to be some growing pains from the exsisting users, some of which own Zunes, but I think we can all work through it.
Thanks for supporting GotZune and I sincerely hope you get some benefit out of the forums. The forums are not to replace the comments on the frontpage, but a thread will be created with each post to point you to the frontpage post. These posts will not be open for discussion, just a pointer to the story.
Important : For members of the the GotZune blog already, make sure if you sign up in the forums to use the same username and password.
That's all I can say...
