In an effort to promote the Zune pass, Microsoft has created a new ad, focusing on the benefits of the Zune pass over apples pricing. Wes Moss, a "certified financial planner", discusses the benefits of using Zune Pass.
I've got to hand it to Microsoft. Of all the commercials so far, this has got to be one of the best. Instead of showing seemingly random people explore wonderland, this commercial actually talks about something Zune related, while also taking a shot at apple. Especially in these tough financial times, it's important to focus on pricing. We can only hope they stick with this style for future commercials.
Microsoft has accompanied this commercial with www.zunepass.net , a site that basically expresses the same ideas.
Well, to be honest I've never been much a fan of the past zune commercials, and I'm sure this is the same with many of you. It's not that I didn't dig the whole "alice in wonderland" theme of some of the previous ads, but they really left the viewer well... wondering what they had just witnessed. Just recently the ad below was released, and I must admit, they got it right this time ! (Even if I don't know who common or Afrika Bambaataa are.)
One of the issues I've had with Zune so far is marketing. I am not keen on the "off the wall" advertisements and I feel that there is a serious lack of marketing dollar out there. Maybe since I am older and not the target Zune Audience, I am missing the ads? I saw my 1st serious online ad today....
Not much to say about it other than Toy R Us is offering $20 off a purchase of $75 or more. Great time to buy a Zune!

This is another one I found on YouTube today. This commercial will appeal to the masses a bit more than the surreal stuff they have been putting out.
Cesar has posted some videos over on Zune.net...
The Zune team and I produced a series of videos meant to highlight the four areas of Zune this year: Device, Social, Software and Marketplace. These were originally meant for journalists and folks in the media, but I thought you’d be interesting in seeing them.
In each of the videos, we asked different folks within the Zune organization to talk freely about their experience on the Zune team, what they tried to accomplish, and the rationale behind some key product features. We have a few hundred folks on the Zune team, and this video is just as much about the people behind Zune as it is about the product. Have a look at the videos (they're on zune.net/press) and let me know what you think!
Here's one of the four videos - about Zune Marketplace
