Well it seems as if the economic design of supply and demand are at work once again. I originally bought the Zune 30 (brown) for $100 back when they were trying to boost the sales of the brownie. Shortly after the prices were back to normal with the exception of the white still floating a little higher in price. Recent searches on prices show that the price of the Zune 30G is around $200 for the brown.
I have nothing against a refurb (refurbished/remanufactured) device and will gladly pay the lower price for an item I feel has returned to have it's problems fixed. My advice to you is shop around. There are many price comparison websites that will do the searching for you; pricegrabber.com, bizrate.com, mysimon.com, dealtime.com and many others.
Currently the white Zune 30G is #4 on the Amazon.com shopping list.
And if you are a trendsetter then go get yourself a brand new one!

There are some speculations that today will bring a 3G iPhone, but most of the speculation is that Apple will bring us a new iPod. The shorter, wider iPod we?ve all seen the rumored photos of. I personally believe this to be the case since there have been leaked case photos for the same look as the rumored photos. Anyhow, Apple?s event today has Microsoft pulling punches. Microsoft is apparently dropping the price of the Zune.
?Some of you may have already heard, but tomorrow we?re dropping the suggested retail price for Zune to $199. It?s part of the normal product lifecycle, something we?ve had on the books for months. We just got some research back and customer satisfaction with the 30GB device is really high (around 94%) and we expect even more consumers will now want to discover the Zune experience at the new lower price.?
I am excited to get a quality 30g player for only 2 bills, but how convenient is this announcement?
